Moscow is a city that is increasingly gaining global recognition not only as a political and economic center, but also as one of the most advanced and livable metropolises. Here, history and traditions blend harmoniously with new technologies and contemporary lifestyle.
Exhibition by photographer Kirill Simakov, Moscow through the lens
One of the central elements of the event will be the photography exhibition by Kirill Simakov, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts and the Italian National Association of Professional Photographers. His works are exhibited in leading galleries in Russia, Italy and France. Simakov’s photographs capture the spirit of modern Moscow, a dynamic metropolis that combines a rich historical heritage with futuristic trends.
The exhibition features unique shots that showcase the architectural magnificence of the capital: from the majestic Kremlin to the modern skyscrapers of Moscow-City, a symbol of technological progress. Special attention was also paid to the Moscow Metro, one of the most beautiful underground architectural wonders in the world. Simakov tried to convey not only the grandeur of the stations, but also the atmosphere of the bustling urban life.

Presentation of the anthology “100 Poems about Moscow”: the poetic image of the capital
After the exhibition, guests will be able to attend the presentation of the anthology “100 Poems about Moscow”. This bilingual 2023 edition collects works by famous Russian poets who tell about the life and realities of Moscow between the 17th and 20th centuries. The anthology brings together authors such as Boris Pasternak, Ivan Bunin, Marina Tsvetaeva, Mikhail Lermontov and many others, creating a poetic portrait of the Russian capital.
Each poem offers a unique vision of Moscow: some celebrate its majestic temples, while others capture the swift changes the city has experienced. They are not just poems, but a historical portrait of Moscow seen through the eyes of those who lived there.
Professor Stefano Garzonio, a well-known Slavist and professor at the University of Pisa, as well as editor of the anthology’s translations, will talk about the variety of literary images of Moscow and the role of the city in Russian and world literature.
Moscow today: a cutting-edge metropolis with a vibrant cultural life
Today, Moscow is a city where the past and the future meet. It is known for its rapid technological development: from smart city systems and an advanced transport infrastructure to cutting-edge IT technologies. The Moscow International Business Center “Moscow-City” is a symbol of this progress, attracting businesses from all over the world.
Moscow is also famous for its vibrant cultural life. Theaters, museums and concert halls make it an artistic center where tradition and innovation merge. The city actively supports both classical and contemporary art forms, attracting artists from all over the world and becoming an inexhaustible source of inspiration for poets, painters and innovators.
The celebration of Moscow City Day in Rome will be a unique opportunity to get in touch with the history and culture of Moscow and to reflect on how this city continues to grow and remain true to its roots, opening up new perspectives. The exhibition and the book presentation will offer the Italian public an in-depth view of the Russian capital, a city that is constantly changing, but remains true to its identity.
