Cover photo: In the last 13 years, the European Union is experiencing a “NO” moment, much more than critical, almost existential, which is putting the future at risk. All this is due first of all to the long period of uncertainty to which the European unity has been subject since its birth, keeping it always in a “PERHAPS” condition, and therefore making it weak and subject to manipulations of different type by those who sees it as an obstacle to their power. At the same time, it is good that a conquest that we citizens took for granted is at risk, because perhaps we understand its true value and react before losing it because of the power games of a few, finding the motivation not only to prevent to be defrauded by what we have conquered, but even to definitely make that step forward that the political class seems unable or unwilling to make, turning Europe into a special place to be proud of, OUR special place, as we European Peoples want it, to which give our convinced “YES”.

The elections for the renewal of the European Parliament are at the door and, despite the polling of the vote is scheduled at 23:00 on May 26, 2019, as of now there is an air of electoral campaign, a campaign that will not be peaceful at all, almost a showdown between those who have so far held the European Union in a PERHAPS condition, those who want it to disappear with a nice “NO”, Brexit style, and those who have been fighting for 70 years because the European Union, as the its Founding Fathers, could become the Europe of Peoples. A clash that perhaps will help to deploy citizens and clarify the ideas to those who arrogate the pride of speaking for them and to do their interests.

There are many events that in recent years have shaken the balance of the European Union and even risk questioning its founding principles.

In fact, it cannot be denied that the current para-federal structure is full of flaws, but, as always, there are two ways to address the resulting problems.

There are those who work to change things and improve the system until it becomes the structure shared and appreciated by all which we undoubtedly need, and there are those who prefer to withdraw, pull themselves out, proposing the exit from the Union European.

And there are those who even seek to boycott and destroy the project of a European Federation, as if a future strong and cohesive European Union could be a threat… But “threat” for whom?! They only highlight the defects of the European Union, dramatizing them as if they were the cause of all ills, even making believe that it is precisely Europe that is responsible for the problems that oppress the states that are members of it. An extremism that sounds as absurd as it is unrealistic.

As we have often stated on our pages, when too many point the finger at someone or something, accusing them of being the absolute evil and the only culprit, it is at least wise to stop looking at the object of the accusation and find out who is behind those accusatory fingers and their true role, their actual responsibilities and their true interests.

Nevertheless, it is good to listen to the reasons of everyone, even the most ruthless desecrators of the European Union, because many of them launch accusations that, beyond the unpleasant forms, have a sense or are founded on a true problem. Therefore, their reasons for protest should be understood and given a concrete, constructive response, just to not allow those who want to exploit those painful points to attack head down and divide, destroy. If there is a solution, we must find it, all together.

In fact, our intent is to find a way to ensure that our continent can continue to live in peace and without anachronistic restrictions that we are no longer used to for at least 5 generations.Realistically, the overwhelming majority of European citizens would not digest the idea that the frontiers and complications that we have been finally able to get rid of may return, or that everything would return to cost more because of the old customs duties we had flashed down. Nor we would any longer be shown in the world as one of the few examples in the human history of capacity to live in peace and create well-being for all, which we do, even if with some defect, for over 70 years, putting behind our back the previous centuries of dark ferocity and destruction among us Europeans.

Some are convinced that it is better to divide and return to live everyone at one’s home, imagining illusorily that one’s state or one’s region can thus and only become a perfect and golden place … but forgetting first of all that there is no place without defects and without bad guys and therefore, so closed to everything and everyone, that place could even become a “prison”, because from a place so closed to the world nobody can freely decide to leave.

Basically, whoever thinks so is trying to rebuild the nightmare we got rid of just 70 years ago!

This closing attitude, which in fact perpetuates a collective suicide, may have two motivations:
1 – They are people whose lives have suffered such bad and traumatic experiences that they became prisoners of their fears and rancor. In this case, this must lead us to find a way to help them resolve their fears or their reasons for resentment, because certainly those few cannot expect everyone else to live with their paranoia and even suffer the consequences. Even more so if this attempt to spread fear and hate is precisely what they are doing just to find proselytes to their cause and feel less alone.
2 – But there are also those who are doing all this with the only cynical intent to conquer power, applying the ancient strategy “Dividi et Impera” (Divive them and you’ll rule them). In this case, they must be simply reported for what they are, manipulators who want a world under their total control, evidently the only one in which they feel safe … which, even if it denounces their disorder of personality, it does not justify them at all and they must be stopped before they can do enormous damage, as history teaches us.

A community includes, never excludes, nor does it obliges anyone to remain

The real way to beat them is to propose a constructive and realistic and therefore credible alternative that everyone would like. And even if moderation has to confirm our firm confidence in what we are fighting for, we must never let the angry screams or manipulative lies of those who do not want unity and cooperation of peoples make us lose our calm and confidence, or that may overpower our voices and our reasons and silence us.

If they are of the first type, once they are reassured they will also help to improve everyone’s Europe. If they are of the second type, they put themselves off by themselves, because we will go on building the REAL EVERYONE’S EUROPE. It is enough to make good use of the immense gift we have as human beings, that of intelligence, building something good and useful, something that unites and makes us all feel better and without much fear, what we simply call “human community”.

Here in Europe we gave it a name: European Union. Let’s make it finally work as it should, that is never again a Europe of Elites that arrogate to themselves the right to decide for us citizens without consulting us. What we want is a true EUROPE OF SOVEREIGN PEOPLES.

With this words we start the debate, inviting everyone to respect every idea, even if extreme, because we must still understand its origin and motivations, just to give it a constructive response.
