The composer and popular pianist of the Russian Federation, Aleksandr Pokidchenko will hold an author’s concert in Rome on February 9.
At the beginning of each year, chamber music halls throughout Russia resound with romances. Every year on the last Saturday of January, Russia celebrates the International Day of Russian Romance. This event was held for the first time in 2018. The idea to establish an official day of Russian romance arose in 2017 in the bowels of the International Competition “Romansiada”, which brings together talented romantic performers in many regions of Russia and the world.
In the 19th century the romance gained the title of favorite genre for composers and singers. It reflected the trends of the time – an appeal to the inner, spiritual world of a person and the treasures of folk art.
Composers Mikhail Glinka, Alexander Dargomyzhsky, Modest Musorgsky, Alexander Borodin, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Piotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninov belonged to the Russian romantic school.
Classical music by Russian composers, as well as original pieces will be performed at the Casa Russa in Rome by composer and pianist Aleksandr Pokidchenko, graduate of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, member of the Union of Russian Composers, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation.
The concert program includes Aleksandr Pushkin‘s poems and soundtracks of famous Soviet and Russian films.
The splendid and nostalgic concert «Pushkin’s most beloved romance» will be held on February 9 at 18:30, at the CASA RUSSA in Rome, in piazza Benedetto Cairoli, 6.
